There are a dozen of traditional hop kilns protected as a historic monument on the territory of Poperinge.
On the road to Watou we drive along one of these a typical farm with large hop warehouse and hop kiln.
The kilns date from 1922 and were enlarged 1933, being a witness of the revival of the hop culture between the two wars. The site has been protected historic monument, 09.02.2010. The left part of the building consists of a hop store. This one, together with the one of the hop museum, is at present in Poperinge probably the last existing hop store in its original state.
